Valentine’s Weekend Racing

3 LFT Athletes raced this past weekend and they all did incredibly well!

Jessica R., who is training for her first Boston Marathon, raced an 8K on Valentine’s morning. It was her first time racing this distance so in addition to being a super impressive time her 31:30 was an automatic PR! Between now and Boston Jessica will be running the Palmetto Half Marathon on March 9th.

Lily is running her first full marathon this May but just knocked out a GIANT 10K PR this weekend at the Rose Bowl 10K in LA! Her time of 49:37 on Sunday bettered her previous PR by 6 minutes and 30 minutes (11.5%) AND earned her 2nd place in her age group! Way to go Lily! Her next race is on March 8th when she’ll be running the San Diego Half Marathon.

Kristina wrapped up her half marathon season this winter at the A1A Ft. Lauderdale Half Marathon. She was just running for fun after breaking 3 hours for the first time a couple weeks prior and still scored her second fastest half ever! After a few weeks of rest and recovery Kristina will be rolling into a spring/summer 5K season and shooting to break 37:00!

From K’s race recap post

I am incredibly proud of all of these ladies and their efforts over Valentine’s weekend!! I’m also loving the progress that all of my other athletes have been showing over the past few weeks and can’t wait to see many of them race soon as well. Keep up all the great work ladies!

  1. Hi Lauren, I’m a runner from Sydney, Australia. I’m wondering if you’ve ever experienced calf cramping when running a marathon? My last two marathons have been made very miserable by calf cramps from about 25km onwards. I don’t ever get them when I’m training and I drink lots of both water and endura before and during the race. I don’t think its a hydration issue, more a muscle fatigue issue. I’d be interested to know if you’ve had any advice. Thanks. Cara
